Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 July 2026
At cvitae, your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, CV builder, and related services.
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the CV builder:
- Account details: your name, email address, and an optional profile photo.
- CV content: the employment history, education, skills, references, and other details you add to your CVs.
- Payment information: handled securely by our payment partner, Paystack. We never see or store your full card number.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to operate and improve cvitae, specifically to:
- Sign you in and keep your account secure.
- Let you build, edit, and export your CVs.
- Host your public CV and run our privacy-first contact-reveal requests.
- Process payments for Pro subscriptions.
3. Data sharing and security
We never sell your personal information. We share data only with the trusted providers we rely on to run the service: Supabase (database and file storage), Resend (email), and Paystack (payments). On public CVs, your contact details stay hidden by default and are shared with a recruiter only after you approve their request.
4. Your rights and deletion
You can view, edit, or delete your CVs and profile at any time from your dashboard. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data from our active databases.
5. CV Match Score and AI processing
If you use the CV Match Score tool to see how well a CV matches a job description, the relevant CV text and the job description are sent to a third-party AI processing partner to calculate the score and, on Pro, generate suggested fixes. Before anything is sent, we remove your contact details (email and phone number) — they’re never needed to score a match.
- If you have an account: your match scores are saved so you can track how they change as you edit your CV.
- If you use the free checker without signing in: we don’t store what you paste beyond your current session, unless you create an account to save it.
