Is cvitae really free?
Yes. The free plan lets you build a CV, use all 10 free templates, host a shareable online version, and export a PDF with a small watermark. No credit card needed. Pro is optional, for when you want more.

Can I upload my existing CV instead of starting from scratch?
Yes. Upload your existing CV as a PDF or Word (.docx) file and AI reads it and fills in your details, work experience, education, skills and references automatically. You land in the editor with everything pre-filled and fully editable, so you can double-check anything flagged and pick a template.
Is my personal information safe if my CV is public?
Your contact details stay hidden by default. With our Contact-Reveal flow, recruiters request access and you approve each one. They never see your raw phone or email. It's privacy by design, aligned with data-protection laws including POPIA, GDPR, and CCPA, and your data is encrypted.
Can I add references to my CV?
Yes. Add each reference's name, position and company — recruiters can always see who they are. Their phone number follows the same privacy setting as your own contact details: hidden by default, and only shared once you approve a request.
Can I build my whole CV on my phone?
Yes. cvitae is built mobile-first. You can write and edit your CV, upload a photo, switch templates, and preview the full layout entirely from your phone. No laptop required.
How much is Pro, can I cancel, and do you offer refunds?
Pro is R59.99 per month, or R575.90 per year (billed in ZAR, but Paystack accepts cards from anywhere). You can cancel any time — you won't be charged again, and you keep full Pro access until the billing period you've already paid for ends. Because Pro runs on fixed billing cycles rather than pay-as-you-go, we don't offer refunds for time already paid. Your CV is always yours to keep either way.
Can I download my CV as a PDF?
Yes, on any plan. Free exports include a small watermark; Pro exports are completely watermark-free, plus you can add a matching cover letter in one click.
